Battle of Theatre 2018 #BoT18

In conjuction with the Lights of Arts and Culture Festival (LAF), “G É bang” is
a play performed by Theatre House of Silver Spades under the event the Battle of
Theatres (BOT). This programme has aimed at promoting theatrical culture among
IIUM students as well as improving talents in directing, acting and organising projects
for the members through a competition as the event’s name suggests. Not only that,
this play is also intended to promote the culture of being aware and critical of issues
that are relevant to us all while appreciating the beauty of performing arts and
theatrical plays. The theme chosen for this play is politics and social criticism and the
concept of the play is a satire. As such, 5 casts and 15 crew members are involved in
this play.

The BOT was conducted in two days which are on the 16th and 17th of April. 5
production houses participated, with 3 plays being performed on the first day and 2 on
the second day. The last day also included the prize giving ceremony.

All in all, we strongly believed that our play has run smoothly as planned. Our
play has been a success in promoting the aesthetics of performing arts among IIUM
students as well as inculcating the culture of critically viewing and analysing issues in
staging “G É bang”. Thus, it is hoped that our efforts in producing future plays and
programmes in regards to theatre will continually receive full support from the
authorities as well as paving our way towards the accomplishment of spreading the
aesthetics in theatre and arts
